FROM AGRITURISMO: VISIT FERMO
Fermo is a wonderful town, just a few kilometers from our agriturismo.
An ancient city of art and studies with a rich millennial history, it was founded by the Sabines in the ninth century BC, in the third it became a Roman colony and always remained sufficiently faithful to Rome to earn the title of Firmum firma fides, Romanorum colonia (“Fermo firmly faithful, Roman colony”).Duchy under the Lombards, in 825 the Carolingians founded one of the nine universities of the Kingdom of Italy here. Under the Ottonians it became the capital of the March extending from Musone to Pescara, and together with the March of Ancona subsequently gave the name to the Region.

Fermo, set up as a free municipality, in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries was passed from hand to hand of various local tyrants and by mid- 1400 fell under the dominion of the Sforza. In the mid- sixteenth century, by the express will of the people, the city was governed by the cardinal's nephew (cardinal nepote) and eventually became part of the Papal State. Under Napoleon's rule, Fermo became the capital of the Department of the Tronto, one of the three administrative centers of the Marche department. In 1861 it joined the Kingdom of Italy. Fermo, city of studies in a vast agricultural area, established a School of Arts and Crafts - today Istituto Tecnico Industriale G & M Montani. The latter gave rise to entire generations of entrepreneurs who have developed the regional industry, as well as the national one. Today, having returned to the status of provincial administrative centre, it is a city of art and culture, services for people and companies, at the center of the footwear industry zone, where world-renowned brands and many other artisans or small entrepreneurs made “made in Italy” famous with their “made in Marche”.
